I think people get confused by asking your husband out of respect because you value their opinion and him being controlling. Damn right my husband wouldn't want me to post pics of my boobs on Instagram. Does that mean he's controlling? Absolutely not, that's redicilous! Do I ask him if he cares if I go hangout with friends? Yup! Not because he's the boss of me but because I respect him and want to make sure we're on the same page. There's a big difference. I've been Married to my husband 5 yrs going on 6 in march. been together a total of 12 years. i tell him the same thing. when my phones goes off for a text or call.he'll be like who r u talking to? who text you? There's definitely a difference in giving input and being downright controlling. If my husband didn't want me to wear a certain top because it was revealing, I wouldn't wear it out of respect. If he told me I "wasn't allowed" to do something, we would have an issue.

I do ask my husband out of respect but he never ever tells me what to wear or who I can be around (except one girl but he had a damn good reason and once he finally told me why I dropped her like a hot potato). at the same time I don't go running around in skimpy clothes so he wouldn't have much to complain about lol. there are things he asks me not to do like spend money at certain times but he doesn't try to control me. it's called being respectful. I do however hate when my bff complains about her husband he is definitely controlling her but she won't do anything to stop it or leave it's just annoying to see the beautiful strong woman I grew up with and love become a shell of the person she was. I fully support her but damn if my husband treated me like that the next thing he'd be seeing is my butt walking away and divorce papers flying at him.
