Question

My dog is almost 3 and super hyper most of the time. He was fine last night but woke up this morning not himself. He’s constipated but his butt looks like he has diarrhea (I’m not sure if he’s pooped, I’ve been at work) I just went to pick him up from home and bring him to work so I can watch him and he’s super lethargic. Walking weird. Every now and then let’s out a huge huff. He’s breathing a little weird and just acting super sick. Any advice? I’m preparing to take him to the vet even though I have NO money. Anyone have a similar experience? I’m really worried. This is my baby.

I’m a vet but I really can’t tell you anything Not vet or technician can give any advice without a valid doctor-client-patient relationship. It’s illegal and grounds for loss of licence for us. What I can tell you that any kind of breathing issues should always be taken seriously. Please get your dog to the vet ASAP. It could be something really minor, but it could be something serious. I’ll add that 9 times out of 10 if you go in as soon as you notice the signs your bill will be a lot cheaper than if you wait it out and things get worse. The faster we can treat a problem the less work, equipment, drugs and man-power we need to use. Which means you’re paying less. I’ve yet to meet a vet that’s unreasonable about payment plans (some clinics can’t do those for various reasons or past experience though) and many will try their hardest to help you in any way they can as well. If you tell them long is a concern they’ll use more basic diagnostics (to an extent, they still have to be able to forgive out what’s happening and treat the issue). Some clinics will dip into an emergency fund as well to help you out Don’t expect it though- many clinics can not afford to help their clients reduce the cost. Medical care and running a practice is very expensive. But most vets will do what they can. Just go in ASAP and tell them about any financial issues as well so that they’re aware and can try to help. dogs cant talk so its hard to know whats wrong with them. you never know so its better to take them to the vet. we recently had to take my bfs dog to the vet. it was expensive but honestly its worth it to take care of your babies.

It could be possible he ate something that he wasn't supposed to. Maybe it obstructed his throat and is upsetting his stomach or causing him constipation. I would definitely take him in, I would be concerned with the huffing and him being lethargic

My dog acts like that when she needs her anal glands expressed. I would get your doggo checked out because we didn't catch it quick enough at one time and they actually ruptured.

My dog was acting like this to, she was sick and dogs get sick so we thought nothing about it. One morning she wouldn't wake up, she was breathing but not moving as she was in shock. We think it was parvo but can't be sure, my dog died that day. Please take your dog In, as parvo is treatable but it isn't if you wait to long.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I know this isn’t a website for general advice but sometimes a girl just needs it! We’re at the vet now. He’s got a low grade fever, so we’re doing a stool sample to check for parasites. His gun color looks good and his lungs sound good too which is great news! Will update when I know, doctor should come back with news any second!
