Catering Woahs...yea... Woah

So Im beginning to do my research on catering. But i am coming to a quick conclusion that catering is not going to be cheap what so ever! I knew that it wasn't going to be cheap but it's going to take a huge chunk of our budget. When we first got engaged we had actually discussed having a potluck done by our family (which even after we had discussed it ourselves my in-laws came and said they'd be willing to help with the fixing of food.) the problem posed here though is that our ceremony is 20 mins away from our reception space. basically we want to cater ourselves seeing how much it is to have a caterer but then on the flip side I where it would be beneficial to have someone cater the food. I. NEED. HELP!
