Calling all IV nurses!

KK

I am getting my first Iron Treatment on the 15th. Since this is my first I have to be there at 7:15am so they can monitor me afterwards. Since I faint with IVs and shots they scheduled my other treatment for that time also. I have a one year old and her daycare opens at 6:30am. I have to get up at 5am to get ready and then get her ready also on a normal day with us leaving at 7:50am. So since I have to be there around 7am to check in it’ll be extremely early. I’m wondering if I can skip my makeup and do it while I’m getting my treatment well my problem now is my dominant arm is the only arm I’ve ever gotten anything in. There’s an amazingly BIG vein it’s so nice 😂 but at my elbow it gets irritated extremely easily and I wouldn’t be able to do my makeup. They had to use my hand for my IV with pitocin. I did makeup then I was wondering if they had to go through the elbow or could go anywhere. I’ll add pictures of my arms to help. I’m just trying to plan my mornings

(1) Left arm (it’s red because I was trying to get a vein to show by tapping it) - they tried a long long time ago and couldn’t find anything so since I just direct them to the other. But this is the ideal arm I’m wanting to use to be able to do makeup so I don’t have to wake up at 4am I can just do my hair and get my baby ready and then finish makeup during my treatment.

(2) Left hand - never had anything tried on this hand

(3) Right arm (see that beautiful vein as I’ve heard nurses refer to it as that before 😂) but EVERY time i have to be stuck there it is extremely uncomfortable, painful, and completely restricts my entire arm- doesn’t matter who or where I go it’s the same reaction. I’ve been through multiple places (ER, doctors offices, maternity unit, and the cancer center) and it’s always the same reaction. It’s not the nurse it’s the spot. this use to not be the case. In high school I gave almost an entire gallon of blood. Until right before graduation I went to a blood drive and she was mean and rude and stuck the needle right through that vein hitting a nerve. I passed out 20 minutes later woke up to pure panic and chaos around me and never gave blood again. Ironic I now have an iron deficiency😂) anyways the vein now rolls I think but it’s really the only visible one they can get with one stick besides my hand.

(4) Right hand (is the most comfortable to be stuck at since it doesn’t hurt and it’s also giving me the chance to do makeup restrictedly though)

My question is, does the iron treatment have to go through my elbow or can it go through my hand? And if so which one (they are numbered) would I get it in if I tell them what’s wrong with my left arm (3) I mean I can get it in that one I’ll just cry the entire time and am more likely to pass out from it. But if I need to get my makeup on before I go I can. I am just trying to plan. Thank you all in advance for your advice!
