August 17th 2013 one of the greatest people to have ever graced this Earth, died from a heroin addiction I did not know he had. It blew my life up. I have spent many hours searching my memories looking for signs. In retrospect there were some things that I didn't register as odd or suspicious but I brushed off as his quirky personality. I beat myself up wondering how I could have missed something so huge. I used to think 'It would been easier to accept his death if he had committed suicide, that way it would have been what he wanted'. 9 people from my graduating class have died and this is not a "dead-end" sort of town but a suburb of Boston with more range rovers than corollas. That is 10 people that I know have died as a result of this epidemic. 10 heartbeats gone. How do we stop this? How does the war on drugs help or hurt this fight? There is a show on Showtime called 'The Trade' which I find fascinating, I recommend it very much. Please share your experiences below and anything else you would like to say.
