miscarriage question

So idk if this is common or not. I tried searching on Google but didn't find anything. So basically two weeks before I started bleeding and cramping I experienced a little pain. I went to the bathroom and something told me to look in the toilet and there was a white/grayish figure that looked like a fetus. I saw where the eyes were forming it looked like two little grey dots. i didn't think much of it since I wasn't bleeding I figure it was tissue. then two weeks later I started bleeding and went to the Dr. and they told me they saw a sac but no baby and I was measuring 2 weeks behind. could it have been the baby that I seen? I'm so confused. I wish I took it more seriously and took a picture I feel like I'm crazy
