What do you do with your baby?

I had a missed miscarriage and I still haven't passed the baby. They died at almost 7 weeks. I don't know yet if I'll have a d&c; or pass the baby on my own. If I do pass the baby at home, what do I do with them? I don't think I can't flush them down the toilet. Should I look at them? If I have a d&c;, will they just throw the baby away?

I'm so sorry. my mmc was discovered on Tuesday February 6th during my first ultrasound. I was supposed to be 10w2d but baby was measuring 8w3d and had no heartbeat. I chose to have a d&c;, hoping emotionally it'd be the quickest route to beginning to heal and thankfully they got me in quickly. just had it done Thursday. I lucked out big time and can't speak highly enough about the care I received. something amazing that my hospital offers is burying the baby in a special lot of a nearby cemetery. it's so incredibly comforting to know that my baby wasn't just disposed of, but I had no idea this was an option until I was there. might be worth asking what the entire process is...

It is so small you probably won’t see it unless you dig around. My first mmc I thought I was passing the baby but it was just a bunch of giant clots. I guess it’s supposed to be grayish but I wasn’t digging in the toilet to look closely. Ended up with a D&C.; It does just go into hazardous waste or a bit to lab to see if anything significant was wrong. Not much you can do unless you want to go through everything but it is a lot of stuff that comes out. I couldn’t believe how many clots I passed and the baby didn’t even budge according to a follow up US.

If you were only 7 weeks you probably won't even notice when you pass it. It'll just look like tissue😔
