End of journey

Amber

Just a little sad. I believe my breast feeding journey has ended. My daughter will be 6 months in a week. The first 2 weeks were rough, she had a hard time latching (I had flat nipples), tried a nipple sheild, an SNS, and supplements out the a**. I gave up, tried to pump and bottle feed formula. It was going swell, but I still wanted to breastfeed. We tried again 4 weeks later, and she latched like a pro! I was so happy. So I still took supplements, saw a lactation consultant, and both bottle fed formula & breast fed. Fast forward 3.5 months later, we get sick with a cold. Little thing is so congested that she slept and ate better sitting up. Needless to say breast feeding was out of the question. So again, I tried to pump; only getting 0.5 oz total each session. The 3rd week of this cold and congestion is gone. Yay, I can BF again. But she's only spending 2-3 minutes on each side. I try to convince myself that she is getting better at nursing. She was at grandma's this weekend, routine changes, we pick her up. I try to BF her and it's the same story. But she's happy to see her bottle. Fed is best. Just sad that I can't feed her anymore.
