Did your delayed cord clamping go as planned?

I've studied it and would like to do this. My OB says she waits but not long. Not sure...need to discuss with her again before birth. I would like to do it. Did your dr delay the cord clamping like you asked? Did they put the baby on your chest wait the 3 minutes and then cut? Can you explain your experience?

Our delayed cord went according to plan. We also had a short cord. He was put on my stomach and three minutes flew by. The midwife let my husband feel the cord to confirm it was no longer pulsating. She clamped it and he cut. Our baby wasn't an enthusiastic breastfeeder right away. However, he loved skin to skin and he is the first in many babies in my family to not have to be treated for jaundice. With skin to skin, delayed cord clamping, and feeding every 1-2 hours ;against his will sometimes) we left the hospital with a 3.7 bilirubin level.

I just read an article about how beneficial delayed cord cutting is for fine motor skill later in life. But only in boys. I'm having a boy so this is important.

Daughter was born with a short cord so she laid on my stomach until the cord stopped pulsating then cord was clamped and cut and she was ready to nurse. 
Tell her what you want there's no reason she cannot wait for it to stop pulsating.

I delayed clamping till I delivered the placenta! My dr was ok with it and surprisingly told me what a great first parental decision we had made:)

My dr "milks" the cord during csections and vaginal deliveries. I work with him also so I see it all the time 😊 I've not really seen any of the OBs in my area do a delayed cord clamping but they don't rush to clamp and cut either unless the baby isn't breathing or something like that.

I delayed it with my now 6 weeks old for 4 mins. I'm in UK though so don't know if practise will be different for you. They delivered baby and placed her straight on my chest still attached and waited 4 mins (3nins is suggested but I said an extra min for good luck lol) then they simply cut her cord when time was up and then I had the I he toon to deliver cord.
