Basically I’m scared... iud

So I have very irregular periods my whole life and for the past few years or so I bleed for months. Literally a month to two month periods heavy and lots of clotting. I always feel so exhausted and have become anemic because of this.

A little backstory my options are limited bc I have high blood pressure(which I’m on medication for). The pill is too risky for my heart and the depot shot was AWFUL!!!

I went to the obgyn and he said that 1. I more than likely have pcos and 2. that the Mirena was probably the best option for me to help regulate or stop my periods all together.

He said to call back and make an appointment when I was on my period so they could insert it but I’m scared. I’m scared of all the possible things that can go wrong and the pain people expletive. I’m worried about it becoming logged and making me infertile, my body rejecting it, and possibly getting pregnant on it. I know all of those are rare but I’m usually that one in a million person for this to go wrong with 😪. Basically I know everyone’s experience is different and there’s no way to tell but just looking for some advice.

My boyfriend didn’t understand why I was so scared to get it and I told him all the possibilities and he said omg we’ll fuck that lol. But birth control for five years is a huge plus and also not dealing with a period sounds like a dream.

What was your experience with getting the iud? How does getting it inserted on your period work? Horror stories?
