Birth story 💕

Amber

I had an induction set for this past Tuesday 2/27 due to high blood pressure and protein in my urine. I was 37+5 weeks.

We get there at 4, and they get my IV started and start pitocin. They also did a cervical check to see where we were starting. I was a loose 3 and 80% effaced. Every 30 minutes they would come and up the pitocin, and I was having consistent contractions, but on a pain scale of 1-10 they were still about a 1, maybe 2. At 9am my OB comes in to check me, break my water, and insert internal monitors. I was still a loose 3, and 80% effaced. I was thinking "man, this is going to be a long process." My OB told me things were gonna start getting more intense.

Around 12 my nurse asks if I wanted to get out of bed and walk around for a bit. I thought she was playing with me because I was not allowed up 2 years ago with my son. So I was like heck yes. She checks me before I got up and I'm at a 4.5, I was flustered because I felt like I wasn't progressing as I should. As he helps me up, lets me pee, and then asks if I wanted to walk or if I wanted a ball. I asked for the ball lol. Oh man, let me tell you things got super intense. My pain went from a solid 2 to a 6-7. My husband and mom got back from getting lunch and I just start bawling. You guys my husband was a saint during my labor and I didnt think I could possibly love him any more than I did, but I found out I could. He's always been my strength, and he didn't dissappoint.

Anyways my mom asks me if I wanted an epidural and I told her I didn't know if I could do this without one, especially since I'm hardly progressing. So she lets the nurse know. They get me from the ball to the bed and I'm waiting for the anesthesiologist to get out of a surgery. I told my husband I can't do this anymore and he told me I could, I was doing wonderfully and that its almost over. After what felt like hours the anesthesiologist finally shows up and I'm having contractions that aren't really letting up. It made the epidural hurt so bad, lol. After he got it done they check me and I'm at a 7.5. They lay me on one side to help thw epidural kick in. My nurse said she was going to go eat lunch really fast and that when she came back we would switch sides so that it can completely numb me. Then said that I may feel like I have to pass gas or pee, and that it was normal. I'm like okay.. So I'm laying there amd I have this pressure and I'm thinking It was normal. The nurse covering mine comes in and said are you feeling any pressure? I said yeah kind of, so she said let her check me. She checks and starts yelling for others to get my nurse, get my OB, and to get thw baby's stuff set up because I was complete and baby was crowning. My nurses came running and they get the stirrups up, my legs in them and I'm saying "Oh my god I feel like I'm gonna poop, I'm sorry if I poop." My nurse said that It was the baby, not to push. I said I'm trying, they pull my legs out of the stirrups to try and help, but baby was still coming. She wasn't waiting and my nurse delivered her. It all happened so fast that they didn't even have time to break the bed down, lol. I had the Epidural for MAYBE 10 minutes and this all happened. I wasn't completely numb, just barely on one side. I can honestly say that waz the hardest thing I have EVER done in my life but this sweet babe was so worth It.
