I went in for my regular 38/39 week check and ended up with slightly higher than normal blood pressure(which is high for me because I’m usually lower). So they listened to his heart beat and it was resting at 175+ when it’s usually 145-150. We got an NST and he was okay then went and got blood drawn and a urine test done and were in labor and delivery about an hour later to be induced for pre-eclampsia.
They inserted 3 doses of cytotec starting at 6pm last one done at 5am because I was having contractions so close together they couldn’t do another dose and started pitocin. At that point I was only dilated to a 1-1.5 andnit had been 12 hours. after 24 hours they decided to break my water just to see if they could avoid a C-Section but it wasn’t looking great and his oxygen levels started dipping during contractions. After they broke my water I opted for an epidural because I hasn’t slept in 39 hours and took a quick nap and woke up to the feeling of something falling out so they checked me and I was at a 4-5. 45 minutes passed and I couldn’t sleep through the pressure so was checked again and was at a 7-8! I stayed at a 9.5 for 2 agonizingly long hours because they said I had a lip on the right side and couldn’t push (turns out it’s just the shape of my cervix and i pushed through it anyway. I pushed for 40 minutes and at 11:11 on March 2nd our beautiful baby arrived!
