Valentine’s Day baby
On February 9th I had an appointment because I had a lot of swelling in my legs and ankles and my doctor wanted to make sure I didn’t have pre-eclampsia. They checked my urine and blood and everything was good, no excess protein so I was good to go home but before I left my doctor asked if I wanted her to check me. At 36w2d I was 3 cm dilated 😳! For the next couple of days I had a little bit of pressure and cramping but nothing to cause me to panic. On Tuesday I was 36w6d I worked the entire day and when it was time to go home I told my co-workers “I don’t think I’m coming in tomorrow”. Around 10:45 that night I was laying in bed and felt a pop. I rushed to the bathroom to make sure I wasn’t peeing on myself and to my surprise I wasn’t peeing on myself my water had broke! YAY BABY TIME! I called my family and let them know my water broke and they panicked and was like hurry and get to the hospital I was like nah I’ll wait a little bit. There’s no pain so no need to go to the hospital yet. Around 1:00 on Valentine’s Day morning I went to the hospital. The nurse didn’t believe I was in labor because I wasn’t in “enough pain”! She did the swab to see if my water was leaking and checked to see how dilated I was...5 cm!
By this point my contractions are strong but nothing I can’t handle. Around 2:45 she checked my again and I was 7
cm but now my contractions are on top of each other another one would start before the previous one would end. I was against the epidural but at this point I was asking for it. The nurse said before I could get it she needed to give me a bag of fluids(WTF lady just give me the drugs)! I get the bag of fluids and ask when am I getting my epidural? The entire time my body is pushing on its own and I can’t stop it. The nurse keeps saying stop pushing it’s not time and I’m like bitch it’s not me it’s my body! Over 2 hours have passed and now the guy walks in ready to give me my epidural but at this point I tell the nurse to check me because I think it’s time! She checks me and says well guess you’re not getting your epidural. Then she looks at me and says “You still can’t push your doctor isn’t here yet” I asked “ well is she in the building?” Her response NOPE! I rely well y’all should get ready to catch my daughter because she’s coming and I can’t stop my body from pushing! 15-20 minutes later my daughter was born!
