When “false labor” = real labor!!!

Jen • Welcomed 👶🏻 2/26/2018 🙌🏼☺️ Unexplained infertility 👩🏻‍🔬 Me: 32 DH: 33 👨🏻‍🔬 3 failed IUIs, 1 PGS FET 6/2/17 - BFP ➡️ Baby Boy!!! 🙌🏼

I was scheduled for an induction at 41 weeks on Sunday 2/25 at 8pm. The process was supposed to be that I would get a first round of medication to soften my cervix (I was 0cm on 2/21), go home, and return Monday morning for the big event. I had my bloody show Saturday 2/24 morning and started having bad cramps but they were not at regular intervals. On Sunday, the cramps got more severe but were still at random times... never 5 min apart!!! So I stuck around the house because the Dr. said not to go to the hospital unless contractions were 5 min apart for 2 hours. According to the internet I was having “false labor.” When we got to the hospital at 8pm it turned out I was 5cm dilated. I had actually been in “real labor.” 😳 So we were admitted unexpectedly and they let my labor progress naturally. I got an epidural and by 1am I was at 7cm! I STILL wasn’t having contractions that were 5min apart. They broke my water to try and get things to pick up speed, however, by 4am I was still at 7cm so they gave me pictocin (induction medication) to speed things up more. At around 10am I was dilated 10cm, “labored down” for 1 hour, but his head still wasn’t descended enough. So they had me start pushing and I pushed for 2 hours! Unfortunately, he didn’t budge and the Dr. said that likely indicated that he wouldn’t with continued pushing. His position (head down, face up and tilted to the right), size (turned out he was 8lbs 13oz), and my pelvis (I’m only 5ft tall) were not compatible for a vaginal birth. So we were moved to the operating room for a c-section and one hour later we had our beautiful baby boy Ash!
