So here’s the story, my manager said I remind her of a golliwog because of my braided hair which she “loves” and I didn’t know how to react to it. She didn’t say it in a mean way she just laughed about it and yeah...

Yeah, no it is not appropriate.  Even if she meant it in a good way you should def. explain to her that it isn't appropriate.  I didn't even know what golliwog was and the moment I googled it I knew it was racist. Golliwog comes from a time an art style that was oppressive.

you posted this twice. in the other you said she was trying to compliment you by comparing your hair to a doll she liked. not really racist and your degrading the word so when people are really racist they don't stand out. 
If it's an honest mistake it's not racist tell her it hurt your feeling and don't turn everyone against her... unless she's actually mean to you due to race

Yes and no. If y’all are friends and have a close relationship. I’d say she was just poking fun at you. But if y’all aren’t close like that. I would be offended. Some people don’t notice that they may be being prejudice or racist.

To me it doesn’t matter how they meant it, if you took offence to it and other people are likely to take offence to it its racist. Even if they were trying to be nice it’s not your problem that theyre ignorant.
