Swaddle while sleeping?

FTM here.. do you swaddle your newborn baby while they sleep at night? I know no loose blankets in the bassinet or crib, but do you swaddle at first? Or just dress them warmly?

Swaddle from day 1. Once he is too big to swaddle(rolls over on his own) we plan on using sleep sacks.

We didn’t swaddle when we came from the hospital, big mistake. Baby was getting woken up by his Moro reflex all the time. We started swaddling him at 3-4 weeks again and he slept longer stretches. He woke up to eat often but it was an improvement. We used the Velcro Swaddle Me and the Halo sleep sacks and stopped swaddling at 3.5 months.

For bed time with my newborn I swaddle him, but during the day he’s just dressed warm for his naps.. he now associates the swaddle with bed time and sleeps longer, I’m assuming because he’s wrapped up tightly!

Swaddling is not recommended or the norm in my country. We just use tight blankets tucked into the crib. Never had an issue with the blankets moving.

Swaddling can only be done in the first few months. And I definitely recommend velcro swaddles over traditional muslin swaddles. The muslin ones are super thin and large and they came undone very easily. The velcro ones stay in place so they're not as much of a hazard.
