Trying to conceive after years of BC

I have a 3 year old and after 2.5 years of being on birth control, we decided a couple weeks ago we wanted to start trying for another baby. I’m nervous because off birth control I generally didn’t have regular periods. So I’m concerned that my body may take months or longer to get regular flows back and to ovulate. We’ve been trying for a couple weeks now and I have yet to test positive on an ovulation test 🙁 Any ladies have any similar experiences or in the same boat?
