Should you live with your SO before marriage?

Lately I’ve seen a lot of newly weds not only trying for a child, but also complaining about their husband and their habits they tend not to like. 
So I started a poll, do you think you should live with your SO before marriage, why or why not.

You don’t know if you really mesh with someone until you live together. Or if they’re crazy like that girl that posted on here that her boyfriend was pooping on the floor in the middle of the night.

I  lived with my wife 3 years before we got married .. we figured each other out on pet peeves , dos and don’ts .. tolerances .. it helped out a lot .. you wouldn’t buy a car without test driving it .. living with someone is hard .. .. at my wedding a family friend came
Up to me and told me some days it’s 50/50..some days it’s 90/10.. you fight through it and love each other ...

when I was young and raised as a devout Christian, they told us you shouldn’t live together before marriage. Well life didn’t work out that way I have lived with both of the men I have had relationships with. and once you have seen what it’s like to live with someone you will agree that it’s completely different. before you commit your life to someone you should definitely try living with them first. even if you have to live in an efficiency apartment 😂😓 like we do.

I didn’t, and I got married at 19. My personal thought is that people nowadays treat marriage as a dispensable thing. When things start going south with a partner the advice we give is to get rid of them. There’s no commitment. My husband isn’t a car that i can test drive and then get rid of. He is so special to me, he is so good to me. He’s the only him that there is. 
News flash, you’re never EVER going to be with someone that 1. Doesn’t hurt you and 2. You never have conflict with. All of us are broken, faulty individuals. Being close to someone leaves you vulnerable to be hurt by each other. That’s the price you pay for love. The real problem is when you hurt them or they hurt you, and the person who caused the hurt doesn’t care or doesn’t make an effort to change. Then, you have a problem. Then you need counseling. Plus, mutual respect. My husband cusses in general, but has never even cussed at me in all these years that we’ve been together. There’s so much more I could go into but that’ll be it for now. 
I understand wanting to test the waters, but I had not a single doubt in my mind that my SO and I are meant to be. Not one. We aren’t just married, we work at being married. There’s a difference. I know it’s corny but i swear I just knew when I met him. The one thing I don’t tolerate is infidelity. Of course, if you live with your SO, I know that everyone has their circumstances. I have no place to say anything to anyone.

I dated my bf for 2 years before we moved in together. things I never knew about him, even after dating for 2 years. it's small things that bother me, the way he hangs his towel, or the fact he doesn't close the shower curtain. I mean obviously it could be way worse.. i think it's important to live together before hand.

I think you should just so you can see literally whether or not you can live with this person for the rest of your life! If my husband was messy I would not be able to deal with that

I can understand why living with your SO prior to marriage can be helpful in terms of wanting to learn more about each other to get an idea of what the future may look like. I say discuss important topics (want a family, ideas of providing for the home, $, beliefs, values, Etc.) way before even discussing moving in.
I do not encourage living together without true commitment to one another.  Unfortunately some invest time with a person who misleads them into thinking they'll get married one day out of convenience and it never happens.  Marriage is definitely hard work and true love isn't always "lovey dovey." It is team work all day every day no matter the challenges.

There are lots of sociological studies that connect living together before marriage to higher divorce rates, so I personally chose not to, but I also won't judge anyone who does as that's the norm nowadays.

Yes. 10/10. Could not imagine diving into marriage without fully knowing the person first. I loved my boyfriend, now husband,for 3 years..we were together almost everyday but i can tell you that after moving in together, i saw a whole new side of him. We experienced financial hardships and had to become vulnerable with each other in sooo many new ways than before. Made our love SO strong and after a year of living together, there was no question that we were ready to tie the knot. Every couple is different. I think it would be extremely difficult to be a newly wed and move in with the person for the first time.

I usually like tradition and stick with old ways.. but, there are a few things I don't agree with, and don't do. So yea, I do believe you should live with your SO before marriage. My husband and I did, and I think it helped us tremendously. I feel if we didn't live together before marriage, we would've drove each other crazy with our imperfections and different lifestyles.
