Is it bad that I care about him most?

Lots of people say that giving is better than receiving. I like this guy a lot, he does too. But I feel like I text him more often more than him. I know texting and social media is stupid. He works from early in the morning and late afternoons. He barely gets the time to text me and we only see each other, if lucky, once a week. I am 18, he's 24. I am a full-time student (with two part-time jobs), and he has a full-time job. I really like him and wants to build a relationship with him someday, but because of our distance (he lives 30 minutes away) and of all our busy lives, I don't think it's a good idea. We are not seeing other people, though. Any comments, opinions, violent reactions, etc.?
