Have you had small pink spotting a day before AF was due and then the next day bleed heavier (covering a pad) and the round out you were still pregnant? 
It’s just confusing as could be period or IB?

First, implantation bleeding is not a must. Only 26% of all pregnant women experienced it. It can occur between 6-14 dpo. 
If you have heavy bleeding, it is probably your menstrual period. 
It is impossible to be pregnant while your uterus is shading its lining. The blastocyst needs the lining to attach itself to the uterine wall and nurture into a fetus. 
IB is similar to spotting and it can be brownish or pinkish. 
If you experience bleeding that needs a pad, it’s not IB.

If you have enough bleeding to cover a pad then it's af.

Hi, implantion is usually not very heavy. Mine was one tiny spot of brown blood once when I wiped.
