So my partner and I are on a short 4 day visit to visit my sick Nana in another country. This is our first ‘holiday’ together and it’s been so nice doing a few touristy things in between visits with my Nana and Mum. It’s fun exploring a new side of him and seeing him let his hair down a bit and say ‘yes’ to adventuring.

At Nana’s place this evening my Mum was sort of grilling my SO a bit and asked ‘Are you going to marry my daughter?’, ‘When am I getting grandkids?’ and said ‘you know you’ve got to ask for mine and her fathers blessing first hey?!’ It was all fun and games and I just sat back and watched him squirm. Haha.

Then tonight when we got back to our unit, we were talking about it and I told him he should ask for mums permission tomorrow so she’s thinks it’s going to happen soon and then just make her wait and wait and wait. Haha.

We were talking about a few other things and then we started cuddling and my SO whispered ‘Will you marry me?’. I said ‘You can’t joke about that because when you actually do ask I won’t know if you’re serious.’ Then he paused for a bit and said ‘When I ask you I’ll have a ring in my hand.’

We joked about it being an onion ring and were laughing. And then I said ‘But yes!’

He then kissed me more passionately than he ever has before.

I don’t think he was seriously asking me. But I don’t think he was joking either. I think he was just testing the waters. But I dead set think that if I said ‘Yes’ straight away, that we would be engaged now.

We were friends before we got together. We have been together for 19 months and have been living together for 16 months. We plan on getting married eventually and definitely want to have kids. He is honestly the best guy. We don’t fight. We talk openly. If either of us has an issue with something we talk it out and resolve it.

I’m just so excited that he’s not as apprehensive about marriage as he used to be.

My SO isn’t the type of guy to joke about something like this at all. But I think that despite the fact that we both know we’re going to get married down the track, this is the first time he actually felt that he was really ready to get married now, so it just slipped out.

I freaking love this man with everything I have in me. I just wanted to share my piece of happiness for the day. 😍😊
