Traveling with a baby by myself??

My son and I who’s 8 months are flying (2 hour flight) and have a couple of 4-7 hour car rides in the next couple weeks. Is there any tips and tricks to make travel as smooth as possible??

Are you nursing or does your little one take a pacifier or anything? Sucking during take off and landing helps baby's ears adjust to the pressure changes in the plane. Last time I took a plane (11 hours) between the West Coast & France with baby the flight attendants had me buckle her in in my lap, facing forward. Not ideal but I just swiveled her so she could nurse anyway once they sat down for take off. 
Otherwise, for long car rides, I try to schedule the start time around the beginning of a nap to maximize sleeping in the car without tears. 
If someone will be with babe in the back you can also provide finger food snacks - the less messy the better :/, ha ha. 
Learn songs like Patty Cake & the Itsy Bitsy Spider for distraction. 
Bring your best self because it may be quite challenging for the kiddo. That one's rough, I know. It's rarely easy to travel long distances.

We just took a family road trip with our 8 month old son. For the airplane I had packed a bag full of small new toys but honestly he liked playing with the tray table, airplane cups, playing peekaboo between the seats with other passengers. 
The biggest success we found with car rides were planning on leaving around nap time and buying a Velcro strap that fastens around his car seat handle and switching out toys to keep his attention. That way he couldn’t throw his toys out of reach. Good luck!

following! I don't have any tips- sorry! but I'll be flying a 1.5 hours flight with baby girl in a month without my husband so I need some tips too!
