Clomid: how many follicles to cancel?

Hi everyone,
My FS put me on clomid this cycle, and I have a scan to check how many follicles are maturing and when to trigger. 
He said that if I have too many follicles, they will 'cancel' the cycle because of the risk of multiples. 
Just wondering if anyone has been cancelled, and how many follicles is the cut off?

My doc doesn't like more than 3. But he agreed to go ahead with up to 5. I had to consent to a reduction, though. (I had a myomectomy so I have an increased risk of uterine rupture.) I ended up having 3 mature follicles.

I had 5 on my first appt and then went down to 4 on my next visit. My Dr went ahead with the IUI. She didn't seem concerned at all.

Thanks for replying, it's has put my mind at ease. I was thinking I'd get cancelled for sure because I have PCOS.

I just had an IUI with 4 follicles all 19-21mm. It was my 4th IUI, and my last one I had 3 at 18mm+ and failed so he said he felt comfortable doing it. He said if this was my first IUI he'd probably advise we cancel with 4 follicles. He also warned us of the risk of multiples.

Every doctor is different but I think generally when you start getting in the 5+ range.  And just because you start with a certain number growing doesn't mean they will all continue to mature. I did a cycle where 4 started growing but by trigger time only 2 made it to full size.
