Plugged milk duct?

So on one of my middle of the night feeds I noticed a hard lump in right breast that was a little tender and the size of a golf ball or so- it’s like 1” above my whole nipple area and it’s not red, doesn’t hurt when he feeds, but I’m afraid to just leave it if it’s a plugged duct because of it turning into mastitis. I tried massaging it in a hot shower and pumped it for 20 min afterwards but it didn’t seem to help. Any suggestions??

I have successfully breastfed 2 babies. I had my fair share of clogged ducts. The absolute best thing is the baby. nurse on that side until its unclogged. Let your little one camp out there for as long as they will. And nurse as often as you can til its gone. Heat helps between feedings. I'd get in the shower and just let the hot water hit me.

This happened to me and I also massaged my breast while in the shower and tried pumping and found no relief. I finally went to my OBGYN because it started to become very painful and when he massaged my breast the milk just started flowing out. Come to find out I wasn’t applying enough pressure when I was massaging it. He said that you should feel a slight discomfort when you are rubbing it. Also try to massage the duct while your pumping, that also helped me.

I found applying something warm before feeding or getting in the shower/bath helpful. Also feed with LO on the floor and lean over them on all 4’s and let gravity help out! I also found hand expressing better than pumping

I've heard of women getting their husband to suck it to unplug as a last resort, apparently it works 😂 try warm shower and massaging first though
