Is this age okay?

I'm nineteen and I've been hanging out with a 24 year old. I'm just wondering if that appears inappropriate or what age is the limit to date? I only really have interest in dating guys a little older then me not younger.

My boyfriend is 32 and I’m 20. 12 year age difference and I don’t give a damn. Half the time he doesn’t act like he’s in his 30s and he doesn’t look like he’s in his 30s at all unless he has a beard. We were both a little skeptical (especially him because he was a little weirded out that he was falling for someone so much younger), but we love each other so much that we don’t care and are willing to make it work. It definitely isn’t easy because we both have a lot of things we have to compromise since we are at such different stages in life, but it’s worth it. My parents, sister, and friends aren’t thrilled about the age difference, but they don’t have to be because it’s not their life.

That’s totally fine! I don’t think it’s the least bit inappropriate. When I was 19 I dated a 27 year old. The only thing that may make that difficult is the drinking age, if you live in America. Having a partner who can go out and drink when you can’t, and can attend 21+ bars/clubs can be a cause of stress/fights but only in certain relationships of course!

Since you are 19, you legally can make this choice. If you were younger, like 16-17, and looking to date a 24 year old, it would be different (in my opinion). I think a 5 year age gap isn’t crazy especially between someone like you who is probably close to being 20 and a guy who’s 24-25. If you feel comfortable, continue but if at any point at all you start to feel uncomfortable, stop dating/hanging out with him (that really goes for any relationship but I remember being young and a bit naive at 19, so felt like it might be beneficial to say something about that to you).
