Is this true?

Okay just a warning this might be a really stupid question but I’m really new to this but is it true you have to hold your pee for about 3 hours before a pregnancy test? And also drinking water is not a good idea before a test? I drink nothing but water I can’t have anything else. Could I be getting a negative because of this? I don’t know if I’m symptom spotting but I really do feel pregnant
