Using a chiropractor instead of pediatrician.
I have several acquaintances that take their children solely to a chiropractor for wellness and sick care (ear infections /asthma/ etc) - starting from birth.
I truly believe this is dangerous - even pediatric chiropractors cannot prescribe medications (if needed).
I am on board with using a chiropractor as adjuvant therapy - but having a pediatrician as well.
I’ve read a few journal articles about chiropractors causing strokes/death in young/healthy children due to cervical manipulation leading to a severed artery. Yes this is rare but it’s scary.
No provider (MD, DO, PA, NP, etc) is perfect and there are always horror stories if you look hard enough.
Do you think it’s acceptable to replace a pediatrician with a chiropractor?
*i am not mom-shaming - I truly believe that it’s potentially dangerous for the child; more like advocating for safer care; I’ve kept my thoughts to myself of course; just wanted to see what the glow community has to say
