Understanding the peak window

Sherryl
I never realized how much science goes into baby making. My first was not planned and happened, well I guess the first time. She is now 9 and my DH and I are trying for our first together.
I'm trying to understand my body better in the process since we are now on month 3 of TTC. I've noticed that the peak for glow and most sites are the two days preceding O. Wouldn't the day you O be the highest since the sperm doesn't have as far to go to meet the egg? Any days prior to that I would think are sperm stocking days? Is it because the cervix is most open during this time and CM is the best? Maybe I've just answered my own question...
Thanks for the feedback!

I read in a science journal that it roughly takes ten hours for the sperm to meet the uterus even though the distance is so short. That is why you want to have sperm that is there to meet the egg since the egg only has twelve to twenty four hours of life. It is so easy to miss that window.

Once you ovulate the egg only lives about 12-24 hours if it's not fertilized.  Sperm on the other hand can live for 2-5 days. So it's much better to have sex earlier so that the sperm can be there when the egg is released. If you try to have sex after the egg is already released, the sperm may have missed it by the time they get there.
