Nathaniel is here

Riven

This is about 3 weeks late but been really busy. At 37 weeks went to the hospital for contractions and they did an ultrasound and told me I was only 34 weeks which made absolutely no sense. so I went to a different office and asked for a second opinion and to talk to a doctor. The second ultrasound confirmed the first, all ultrasounds prior to the one at the hospital and the most recent one showed that I was on track so being measured behind by 3 weeks was concerning. The doctor I spoke to thought my son could possibly have IUGR so I was scheduled to come in twice a week for NST. the hospital refused to even consider inducing because they stubbornly stuck to their belief that my son did not have IUGR but that my due date was wrong to begin with regardless of the past ultrasounds that supported my original due date. Every visit was a struggle trying to convince the hospital to induce me as I got closer to my due date. The way it was explained to me the hospital would be liable for whatever they did. If they induced and their measurements were correct and my due date was wrong and he had issues related to being premature then they would be liable. And if they didn't induce and he had issues from being overdue and IUGR they would be liable. I finally was able to speak to a doctor who agreed that I needed to be induced (a week an a half overdue) I went in on Monday the 14th at 5:30pm and they started cervadil at 6:40pm contractions started on their own at 8:00pm and were about 5 minutes apart and 30 or so seconds long. Tuesday the 15th at around 10:30am the cervadil was removed and they checked my cervix. I hadn't progressed at all but babies heartbeat was healthy so they decided to try cytotec. I was checked at 1:40pm and had dilated to 3cm. Contractions were about 40 seconds long and 2-3 minutes apart. At 7:00pm I finally called uncle and asked for the epidural. The epidural was placed by 8:40pm and I was able to sleep until 11:23pm. I was woken up by the nurse to check my cervix and I was at 9cm. The nurse had me do a few practice pushes before bringing the doctor in. I started actively pushing at 11:45pm and Nathaniel Rian Lindsey was born 7 lbs 9 oz at 12:06am Wednesday the 16th. 10 days overdue and 100% healthy. Started breastfeeding within 10 minutes of birth and he latched almost immediately. All in all a pretty easy delivery minus the 23 hours of full blown contractions before getting the epidural.
