Disappointed in this app

Not so much the app, as the people on the app. When I first joined a few months ago I had found a refuge from the nastiness in the outside world and the rest of the internet. Do you know how rare it is to find that online?

But now, each day I notice more and more women tearing each other down. If you post a selfie needing encouragement, you will get it. We are good about that. But if you ask a question, or have a different opinion.... I've seen so many women calling each other horrible names, saying cruel things to each other. We all claim to care for each other so much, so why don't we act like it? Just the other day I asked a question about a technique and instead of people answering the question, they told me I was stupid for trying it and to go the traditional route with my issue. And it wasn't said nicely.

Does this hurt my feelings? No. I'm a grown woman who can handle it. But think of all the young girls on here, watching us behave so cruely. They are learning by our example, good or bad.

I understand we all have bad days. Or bad weeks, depending on what time of the month it is. 🤣 I get it. I myself have commented things that looking back, I was being mean. There are ways to say something nicely, even if the subject isn't a nice one. Remember that your words do not carry your emotions. What you may have said sarcasticly another will read angrily. That's why emojis were invented.

I'd like to believe we have a community of women and men who genuinely care about others. There will always be a bad apple in the app. There will always be a cruel person, a creep, a troll. It happens. But we need to strive to be better. For oursleves, for the women that will follow in our footsteps. We deal with so much discrimination and sexism in the world, we as women need to lift each other up, not tear each other down. We will never progress as a society if we cannot do this. Kindness has the power to change so much. Don't stoop to the level of those who hold us back. Rise above them.

I ask you: please speak with kindness. Imagine yourself in the other person's place. And practice this in the real world as well. But it can start here.
