Do you believe rapists should have parental rights automatically terminated if the rape results in the birth of a child?

Amber • If you don’t eat your meat, you can’t have any pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat?

A case in my state has caused a lot of uproar about rapists and their parental rights resulting from the rape. In this case, a judge ruled for the convicted rapist to have joint custody. Essentially this gave him access to the victim’s personal information and put her in a predicament where she could’ve had to co-parent, although rapist’s attorney states he did not wish to see the child. It opens up the door for a lot of questions, though. Should a victim be found in contempt of court because they are unwilling to co-parent? If there is a conviction, should rights be automatically terminated (rather than being left up to a judge)? Why isn’t the court doing more to protect the victim’s rights?
