Do you think infamy has anything to do with these mass shootings?

If you haven't heard, there was a mass shooting in Annapolis, MD at the Capital Gazette today resulting in 5 deaths. Just wondering if you ladies think infamy plays apart in these crimes.

I think there are much deeper issues that cause people to commit these shootings... it the media focusing on the shooters so heavily certainty doesn’t help discourage them.

There's actually pretty good evidence that infamy plays a huge role in these events. For a while, there were serial stabbings in China, similar to our mass shooting epidemic. Through partnering with the press and reporting more low key, more locally, and more victim-focused, the crisis was largely headed off. 
It's hard in the US, because we have freedom of the press and it's hard to get around that. But yea, infamy plays a big role in copycat mass shootings

I think it would still happen even without the fame. This is a really bad epidemic and I don't think fame is the only reason for it. There's a lot of factors going into this like mental instability, entitlement, and some of other stuff I can't think of right now

My heart goes out to those that have been hit by this terrible situation. 
I cant say for certain that infamy plays a role in these horrible occurrences. But I can see why that conclusion could be gathered. These shootings are very frequent, and happening what seems like every week. 
I dont think we'll ever know for certain, unless the violent perpetrators confess their reason.

i don’t think it’s exactly main motivator or cause, or that there’d be no incidents if they weren’t so heavily reported by their name/photos/stories. but i personally do think it plays a bigger part than many people realize.

Not necessarily. 
I think the more publicity these shootings get, the more they’ll occur. 
These shootings are not just being plastered all over the news, but all over Instagram as well. 
People with violent tendencies will want to have the same “fame.” As the rest of these shooters...sad.
That’s just what I think.

Not really. I mean no one really talks about shootings by the name of the shooter but more by where they happened. Like Sandy Hook was in Sandy Hook, CT.
