Induction at 39 weeks?

Hi ladies! FTM here lol.. I found out at my last appointment that my dr wants to induce me on Aug.3rd, which I was not expecting at all. (I’ll be 39 weeks, my original DD is Aug.10) Im just wondering what I should expect? I’ve read a lot of scary things about induction and the risks and whatnot.. has anyone on here been induced at 39 weeks? What is the process like?

If there is no medical reason he is offering to make it convenient for himself. I wouldn’t do it because it rushes your body into a process that it regularly prepares for
For over a week and it is harder on you. If everyone is healthy let baby come
When baby and your body are ready.

I wouldn’t induce. I got induced at 40 weeks on the dot wouldn’t do it again. I was in labor from 3:30am and he was born at 8:50pm. Wasn’t allowed to eat all day on top of that my sons heart rate dropped during my labor and they had to give me a shot to stop the meds. Then start again.

I’m being induced at 39w2d if he does not come before then. My last pregnancy was a stillbirth at 28 weeks due to our baby having a rare disorder. This pregnancy has been fine, but that’s what the specialist recommends...also, I’ve been told that placentas tend to quit functioning properly after 40 weeks. Do you have an issue with the placenta? Could be why...or if your baby is measuring big.

Agree with everyone else. If there’s no medical need for it I would not do it. Inducement tends to be more painful and longer, sometimes it even fails. My mom was induced with me and her inducement failed and she ended up having to have a csection. You’re allowed to say no, so I’d honestly decline it if it’s not necessary, labor will be much easier if you go in on your own.

If there aren’t any medical problems DO not go along with being induced!!! I don’t understand the reason for wanting to rush the baby out if nothing is wrong!
