i know someone whose kid is 6 and the kid decided she didnt like her name. so her parents paid 200 to change it. now the girl wants to change it back. so just curious would you change your kids name if they didnt like it?

Nope I picked their names for reasons and the names have great meaning to me and my husband if they don’t like it to bad they don’t like it still by 18 they can go change it themselves and pay for it on their own. I also don’t do nicknames my oldest is katherin and I’ll always call her katherin nothing else

I would consider calling them something else if they really hated it, but would not legally change it, especially that young! If they want to change it, they can do it once they turn 18.

If my parents did that my sister would’ve changed her name to Cinderella at 5. So they told her if she could spell it backwards they’d call her by Cinderella but had to use her real name at school. She learned how to spell it backwards in a day. But after about 2 months she was over it.

As someone who has hated my name since I was 5 and am currently saving to change it now, yes! I wouldn't do it on a whim, but if they wanted to change it for more than 6 months? Heck yes.

At that age a child’s mind will change about 100 times in a matter of seconds. Maybe once they’re older and they really hate it I might support it. But I feel a 6 year old shouldn’t have the power to make a decision that impacts her identity.

Nope! When I was 6 I wanted to change my name to Jessica 😂 no offense to Jessicas out there but I am definitely NOT a Jessica lol. I still don't like my name but that's fine.

Omg 😆 the kid's 6. With the things my step daughter said thought acted when she was 6 I'm fairly certain that a 6 year old isn't mentally developed enough lol to decide that for the rest of their lives.
