Chances of pregnancy

So I get people say to wait until your missed period to test because that's 14 dpo. But, it's also possible to get pregnant on any day off of your period, just a small chance. With that being said, is that why some people can test early and get a positive test? Just an anxious lady over here TTC for baby #1. I would also love to hear your success stories! :)
