Can't conceive second baby!

I am a mother of a five year old little boy. I unexpectedly got pregnant with him at age 17. I am now almost 23 and have been trying for baby number two for the past year in a half. Why was it so easy to il conceive baby # 1 by surprise and now we're trying actually trying for baby #2 and nothing is happening?!?!
