Trump administration targeting legal immigrants?

Question

Alright so I came across this today. I haven't looked to see if this has been discussed already or not, but how does everyone feel about this? The Trump administration now wants to make it harder to become a legal citizen, yes they focused on targeting illegal immigration, but now this? To target those of whom have come here lawfully, done things the right way, worked their way through the process to become legal citizens, and who contribute to society. What are your thoughts?

Looks like the administration is enforcing a law that has always been in place.  This article is very unclear as it talks about one aspect then jumps to a particular case that actually is a different issue.  Using fake passports is illegal and I have no idea how that guy somehow got a green-card after that offense.  No way to know real details of this story so hard to really comment.  What I do know is when I became a citizen I had to sign paperwork that basically said I would never seek assistance in the US as I had to prove I can take care of my self when my application was accepted.  They also did background check on me to make sure I did not commit any sort of illegal activity or offenses or uses any public assistance.  Same thing was done when I petitioned for my mother.  A lot of older people that come here that we personally know get on SSI benefits as soon as they get citizenship.  Those benefits pay each person who has never worked a day in the US anywhere from $700-$900 a month in benefits,  plus free Medicare B and Medicaid covers Medicare A.  These are outrageous costs for people that have not once worked here or paid taxes. People in the country I grew up in call it their free pension and think the US is the most generous free for all country they have ever seen because there is no oversight of the law.  🤷‍♀️ I am curious to see if they are simply enforcing the current laws or coming up with a new law altogether.  The article is very vague and not explaining anything.  I personally think if an immigrant wants to bring their elderly parent in the US they should provide for them,  but that is not what is happening,  there is a massive use of the system.  They system is not set up to pay for all the elderly who have adult kids here,  and I think that is wrong.
