Advice on college long distance relationship?

So my bf and I are going to different colleges. The distance is 6 hours. His college is closer to home (45 mins away) since he’s never really been away from his parents and what not and he’s an only child. I on the other hand picked a college that is the 6 hour distance only because my parents would not let me go to any near by college because they want me to “explore the world.” Anyway, He is leaving tomorrow and I leave next Saturday and this is causing me to overthink and be scared about what can happen to us that will break us up. He and I do have strong hopes for our relationship, as we both want to do long distance and try our best to make things work out while we’re in two different places. But we’re both new to this obviously and I’m looking for real advice on how to make things work. It would be so nice if you guys could give me some tips and even good personal experiences to ease my mind. Thanks!
