Opinions on ear pearcings

If we have a little girl my husband it totally for whatever I decide,however I’m torn. My mother had my ears pierced at 6months. I’m glad she did,I don’t remember the pain,and I was small enough that I didn’t tug at them yet. I’ve always had them and they have always helped me to feel pretty. However I also know girls who chose to wait until 5-10 and let their daughters ask for them, sense after all it is their bodies and it’s just their ears. Later if they don’t like it they can just let them grow up. These girls also had a struggle with keeping them clean and their daughters letting them rotate them,getting caught it their hair etc.....I also know a girl who is 12 and hated her ears being pierced and is letting them grow up. So what’s everyone’s opinions on this? I’m not looking for a war or bulling in the comments,I’m just curious on what everyone has decided for their daughters/what was decided for them.
