I ended up staying at hospital overnight in latent labor for about 10 hours, dilated at 3cm. I had mild contractions, but had great support from my SO and mother. Before going into labor, I had decided I would do a natural birth with no pain medications or epidural. Everyone, even the nurses on duty, called me brave for deciding this 😂 I decided to be induced at 6:30am Friday, but felt the monitor tracking my contractions wasn't accurately capturing them; they felt a lot worse then what was being shown! After being bumped up to only 4ml of pitocin, the resident doctor checked my cervix and it only made a change to 4cm by 9am. He wanted to send me home! Luckily, my OB told them to keep me. The contractions at this point were so bad that my entire body was involuntarily shaking and I had already vomited twice, so I asked for an epidural despite my original plan. They bumped me up now to 8ml of pitocin and went to get the epidural. They checked my cervix one more time; surprise! Within a matter of 20 minutes, I went from 4cm to 9cm and felt the need to push BAD. No time for epidural and before they could get everything they needed for delivery in the room, my water broke. But no, I couldn't deliver yet, my OB still wasnt there! I tried like hell to keep from pushing, but my body took over. I had never seen a room fill up with people so quickly. They kept telling me "not yet, don't push" but I yelled at them that I couldnt help it. 7 minutes after my water broke, my little girl entered the world at 6lbs 1oz and 19.5in long. I couldnt believe how quickly everything had happened. My OB didnt end up getting there until they were in the middle of stitching me up! Because of how fast she came out, I tore badly and opposite of normal tearing, so it took them about 45 minutes after delivery to finish stitching. But my little girl was perfect and healthy, and I ended up doing it all natural with no epidural because I didnt have a chance to get one. Im proud of how well I handled everything and Im beyond happy to finally hold my baby girl in my arms ❤
