Interesting with different countries
I always find it interesting to read about how different things are in different countries. I get to, almost daily, read about 1 hour and 3 hour glucose tests. That if a person fails the 1 hour test then they take the 3 hour one. In Sweden, we only take the 3 hour one. So my first and only glucose test is next week and is 3 hours.
Same thing with maternity leave. It seems to be so different for women in different countries or even different states. Here we have a standard, 240 days of paid parental leave for each child born, no more and no less unless you want less. You always have your job to go back to as well, it is illegal for anyone to fire an employee because of parental leave.
Inducing is another thing. It seems to be more of a free choice in some countries, like the USA, than it is here. Here you only get induced if you have reached 42 weeks of pregnancy or if something goes wrong. Getting induced to, for example, have the baby before Christmas, just doesn't happen here.
Growth rates, heartbeat and weight guesses..
I feel like Americans get way more detailed information about their baby than we do in Sweden. I didn't get to hear the heartbeat until 22 weeks and I never get to know anything more than that everything looks good, even when I ask. I have no idea how big he is or how much he might weigh or if he is a week behind or ahead or anything.
There are more examples but these are what I could think of atm. 😄
