Why is it...

that moms who want/get an epidural get so uplifted by other women, whilst moms who want a natural birth are patronized and/or treated as if it’s impossible? There are 3 types of birth in the medical world: vaginal without medication (also referred to by doctors as natural), vaginal (medicated), and C-section. You don’t have to like it, but that’s how it’s medically classified so that’s how I’ll refer to it.

Edited to add: almost every single person has tried to discourage me (on this app and in real life) and I’ve seen dozens and dozens of posts on here doing the same. It doesn’t matter that I’ve had a natural birth before; they still say the same things. “Well it might have worked with your first but every birth is different- you’ll be lucky to be able to do it again” is literally one thing that was said to me on here. Or people will even comment ON my comment about how I coped with natural birth stating how “this isn’t realistic” blah blah. I feel so bad for women who are considering it with their first and after being put down and treated like their wishes are impossible they end up getting scared and doubting their bodies. All women need support to deal with the pain of bringing life into the world, for however long they decide to let that pain last. It’s hard enough just doing it without negative thoughts of women saying they can’t do it swirling in the back of their mind. “Oh it’s fine to want a natural birth but goooood luck with that 🙄” sarcastic comments don’t help either. I would never treat someone who chose pain management as any less, so I don’t understand why it’s done to moms who seek natural birthing instead.
