How much do you and your significant other have saved all together?

The poor people version! No, but I’m curious to see how much people usually have saved up. You can add your 410k’s here and pensions whatever you have as an asset

There’s a big gap between 5000 and a million. If you count 401K, my husband and I have over 300K +
Start 401K young and put in 15% every check.

It’s all me. I have about 32K saved. My husband doesn’t save anything. He doesn’t have a 401K and doesn’t put anything in a savings account or set aside cash.

My husband saves physical cash and he's probably got the equivalent of a few hundred dollars lying around.
I put away R500 of my salary every month (which is about $37) into an investment account and it's sitting at about $810 at the moment (we most of it out to settle my car a year or so ago so we're building it up again).
I put away the same amount in a retirement annuity account that I never touch, but it was put in a low risk account so it hasn't grown very much. That's sitting at about $1078. I only opened it a couple of years ago and initially only saved R200 a month (about $14).
Then finally, we have another savings account which we can access the money immediately. We've got about $1200 there.
We don't want to keep all our savings in one place in case.
