what's wrong with my piercing??

so the last time i changed my belly ring, i think i broke skin and there was a little bleeding. i went to change it again tonight (after 2 weeks of last changing it) and there was more blood and a weird goo that looked like soft cartilage. there's no pain, no redness, and the bruising has been there since i first got it pierced. does anyone know what it could be?? im thinking irritation since the other ring was too long and kept getting caught on things.
