Coal for christmas? (Read description)

Question

My dayghter has been exceptionally rude and bratty this year. Acting like she should get everything she wants, giving out orders as if she runs the house, getting into trouble at school etc. She's 5. She has been threatening me with me only getting coal from santa this christmas, because i don't let her walk all over me like she wants to. So i'm considering flipping it on her. Comments and suggestions appreciated!

I found a Santa letterhead last year and wrote a note to my daughter about her behavior. Instead of doing coal, I made her do five random acts of kindness and have those items as a gift so she could remember the goodness within her and what it feels like to be kind and thoughtful instead of mean and selfish. 
She still talks about the letter from Santa. 
I say redirect instead of fighting fire with Fire.

I’d give her coal personally and in a few weeks once her behavior improves drop off a ‘gift from santa’ with a note that says he wishes she would be a good girl all year so she could get more presents 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is there a reason for her behavior? I work with kids and there is always a reason for why they start acting differently

Friends being mean at school etc 
Try getting to the root of the problem. I promise you that at 5 she’s not acting out to be malicious but because she doesn’t know how to express how she’s feeling about a bigger issue.

There’s an app called Portable North Pole where you can have “Santa” call your child personally and ask of them for good behavior, maybe that can help you out!

I would! First of all I’d leave only two presents, a nice one and one with coal (just so she doesn’t keep getting disheartened opening presents). In the nice present, leave a note that states what she did that was kind to deserve that present. In the present with coal, write what she did wrong and what she should do next time. Also leave a note of what she could’ve gotten, but didn’t because of her bad behaviour.

I saw this on Instagram: Wrap empty boxes as Christmas gifts, address them to her, put them under the tree, & every time she acts up, take one & toss it into the fire (if you have the fireplace going). If you don’t have the fireplace going, maybe toss into the trash? 🎁🔥

Write a letter from Santa, letting her know he knows of her misconduct and THEN if her behavior doesn’t improve give her the cole. Tell her in the letter as a warning too.
