Do your kids wear costumes to school on Halloween?

I work at an elementary school in Boise and our students were told NOT to dress up today and to save their costumes for tonight. This was odd to me...I’m coming from 9 years of working in CA schools where students and staff were always encouraged to dress up and have fun but I also understand why our principal here doesn’t want to allow hat chaos on campus! Just curious, do your kids wear their costumes to school on Halloween? My 3 year old will be wearing his GI Joe costume to his Lutheran preschool later today!  🎃

Ours were allowed to pick a word & dress up. My 6 yo chose vampire. She just couldn’t wear makeup or fake teeth (too scary apparently)

My daughter went on a field trip today to a nursing home to trick or treat so she wore her costume to school for the trip and then she changes back into her uniform afterwards. :) she was pretty excited when she got up this morning.

When I started working in my current district five years ago, the elementary could (they have a costume parade), but the middle and high could not. Now, all three buildings and staff are encouraged to participate (no masks or offensive choices).

My son's school also disallowed costumes today. Their reasoning is that kids in the past would lost pieces or ruin it at lunch or recess

My daughter wore hers today! They have a Halloween party and such plus its red ribbon week so it's also apart of dressing up for that.

The kids in my school district are not allowed to wear their costumes. Our town wide Halloween celebration is from 5-8pm. Daycares however do allow costumes.

My daughters school doesn't have them wear there actually costume to school. (they can though) When she was in Elementry school they did red ribbon week and had a book parade and the kids dress in either their costume or something from their favorite book. You just had to have a book that matches your outfit, which they could get from the library if they didn't have one. This year she is in middle school and they are just doing red ribbon week.

My elementary school didn't allow masks or face paint. But costumes were fine as long as they didn't distract from learning.

My kid isn't born yet but when i was in school (not that long ago) we were always allowed to bring our costumes to change into for the Halloween party for the last half of the day and the school would even have a halloween parade before the end of the day.

I used to live in California, And we would have fairs and a parade when I was growing up and my kids when they first started going to school. I’m in Texas now and no celebrating of Halloween  whatsoever. It’s sad. I remember my mom used to make cupcakes and go watch and take pictures it was so much fun
