My mom says baby showers for the 2nd baby is rude!!!?

Ok!! So I'm due with a baby girl jan 14th! And I have asked my mom if she really is going to host the baby shower. (She said she would do it a while ago but is kind of a flake so i need to make sure) and while we are on the phone she says that it's kind of rude to throw a shower after the first baby...like begging or something? She compared it to a housewarming party everytime you buy a house. Lol. Ummm I guess that's how it was back in the day, but I don't see a problem with it now! I know friends who have had showers for all 3 kids... is it dumb to have one? I had a boy first and saved all his clothes but now I'm having a girl so I could use any little help we can get! Plus I love get togethers with friends and family since I dont see them often.

Depends. If they are the same gender and close together or if you have most of what you need, then do a sprinkle instead of a shower. It's more about celebrating pregnancy and the baby then about the gifts. If different genders, or it's been years since your last child, or you simply have nothing for the baby, by all means, throw a shower. The guests dont have to bring gifts. Hell, they dont have to come. If they disagree, they most likely wont.

I believe that every baby is different and deserves something special to celebrate them, to me it’s like telling one child there more special and celebrated than the other

I don’t think it is! I had my first 4.5 years ago and I’d probably agree to have another one or at least a sprinkle if my parents threw me one but I’m just too lazy to plan it myself. 😴😴😴

It depends. I only ever had a baby shower for my first. After my other kids were born I did receive gifts but didnt have a shower. Some ppl are set in their ways and are "old school" when it comes to things like this. However that being said I don't think there is anything wrong with it. My cousin had a shower for each or her kids.

I threw a surprise shower for my best friend. It’s her second boy in 3 years. 🤷🏻‍♀️ in my family every baby gets a shower. Gifts weren’t extravagant by any means but every pregnancy deserves a little party. It literally cost me under $100 to throw and meant the world to her.

I’m from Miami and almost everyone I know has a baby shower for each kid. Especially when it’s different genders. I had a boy and saved everything too but this time I’m having a girl!

I don’t think it is rude. Especially since it is a totally different gender. 
My mother is throwing me one because my first was a boy and was born almost 4 years ago and now I’m expecting a girl, and I have nothing for her. I tried to keep the most gender neutral items from all the clothes I kept from my son but that was such a little amount. 
So I totally get it. Definitely not rude.

I’m having my second boy and debated having a second shower. We are having a “baby celebration” to celebrate this boys life! We have mentioned that gifts aren’t necessary and we just want to see family and celebrate!

Nope. I had my 1st boy 3 yrs ago and a gf is throwing me a baby shower where I live for our 2nd boy. Everyone is different.  1st time mother in law threw it in a different state with only family. So this time around mostly friends and some family.
