Stay at home mom?? Long post.

Olivia • Mom of 1 Boy 💙 Est. Oct 6th, 2018 🎃

Hey everyone,

I need an opinion?

I currently have a 5 week old sweet baby boy! He’s my first and most likely my last baby. It kinda sounds like we won’t have more. Just expensive and afraid having more than one we won’t be able to give them a good life.

I want to stay at home with him for a few years like my mother did with 3 kids. I don’t make a ton, $15/hour as a dental assistant, 34 hours a week. I live 30 min from work and any city to work in. We have a house. Not a rental. He has a truck, car, and crotch rocket. I have a Chevy Cobalt. I’m thinking of selling my car to pay off a bank loan of $$2,300.. which is ironically what my car is worth. He’ll probably sell his crotch rocket too since we’re struggling financially. I’m already on WIC to help with formula since I had many issues breastfeeding. My bills are:

Student Loans $50/month

VISA: minimum $25/ month

That bank loan at $200/month

Car insurance $80/month

And I need to renew my plates Monday for $75

And that’s it. All my other money has gone to gas, items prepping for the baby so I wouldn’t have to buy them now. I don’t have a phone bill since my dad is kind and has me on his plan. I’m not really driving since I’m home full time right now, I feel like my car and that bank loan is costing me the most. If I sell the car. My husband will be able to cover the remaining $75 in bills monthly. I could probably even make that doing something at home like selling clothes or starting a blog possibly. He has many bills too, but things from before we were even together, he just has a lot of things he’ll probably have to sell to catch up. I’m sure I’m not the only one in this financial boat. I just feel like I’ll cry every day going to work, still have sleepless nights, hate my job, go broke paying for bills, daycare, work stuff like scrubs, shoes, gas and insurance to go to work, lunches for work. Plus if I’m working again I’ll probably have to pay for about $200 in formula/month. I just am afraid I’ll work my butt off and lose my only child’s entire childhood for nothing but stress and crying. What should I do?
