Tattoos and breastfeeding??

My bday is coming up and I really want to get a tattoo or two. Babygirl is 11 months and still feeds on demand, is it a bad idea or should I wait till I’m done breastfeeding?? Pls no hate, it’s just a general question. I have researched and everything. Some sources say it’s okay, other sources say no.

Yes I get tattooed while breastfeeding. Both my artists are fine with it. I have many tattoos,  sleeve and lots of others.

As long as you go to a reputable clean shop and take care of it afterwards it’s fine. The main concern is possible infection but that isn’t likely if you do those things. I’ve gotten two tattoos while breastfeeding with no issues.

My doctor and my tattoo artist don't recommend it and my artist won't do it.

My tattoo artist does and my doctor was fine with it. My tattoo artist said he knows his shop is clean he knows I take good care of my tattoos so he doesn’t see an issue.

As a tattoo artist and a Mom my stance is this: as long as you breast milk is not the ONLY source of food (ie kid is 6months or older and eating other foods) and you go to a licensed and reputable shop, it’s fine. I won’t tattoo anyone who is EBF with a little one under 6months old. Baby needs to build their immune system and get all the benefits of breast milk. On the off chance your tattoo gets infected (most infections come from exposure post tattoo from outside contaminants, poor hand washing, dirty clothes etc) and you have to take antibiotics that effect your breast milk, you don’t want to deprive your child of your breast milk (especially in the first 6months). That being said, I’ve got some projects of my own to finish and I will be doing so once she is eating solid food.

I got a shoulder cap tattoo when my lo was 4 months old and I was still breastfeeding. It’s fine, go to a reputable place.

Most places won’t if you’re breastfeeding because if you get an infection or something.
