How much can a wedding dress be taken in?

So I bought my wedding dress this weekend and I got it in a size that fits me currently although is slightly tight because I'm on weight watchers, I've lost 10 pounds in the last month, and my wedding isn't until July. I was told it could be taken in but someone else told me it can really only be taken in 5 inches and like.. I'm hoping to lose more than that. Did I make a mistake ordering that size? What if I lose a lot and it's too big?! Does anyone have experience in this?
